Go caps....need to get as close to the top as possible for best lottery odds. Winning a meaningless March game in 2023 does nothing to help the long-term ability of this team to recover, rebuild and win again.

hope Ovechkin pops a few to get closer to Gretzky.

You’re right, Gretzky’s number never should have been retired by league wide.

You're right Zach, only 12 games left in the season. At least things were interesting for the first 3/4 of the season with the trade speculation leading up to the TDL. Now we have to wait out the remainder of the season, then wait about another month for the lottery. After that, if the Hawks don't get the 1st overall, there will be weeks of speculation on whom they will draft at whatever draft position the Hawks are allotted.

Myself, like many of you, will be looking forward to the playoffs. Playoff hockey is just so more intense than the regular season. There should be some great 1st round match ups - Toronto/Tampa Bay, NYR/New Jersey or Carolina - to name a couple.

Then after the Cup is awarded, we'll begin to see how KD shapes next year's and future years' rosters through trades, RFA and UFA signings and the draft. There's a lot to look forward to.

Always was pro gretzky. Just remarkable what Ovechkin is doing in today's game given the advancements in competition, equipment, etc. has some pros as well with training, equipment, but safe to say 1-18 taking the ice today > vs any other time.

Playoff hockey is unmatched. Love it, and always watch regardless of where the Hawks finished. East will be a meat grinder.

Can't wait for this board to melt down on draft lottery night. God help us all.

He went off for a hattie on them earlier in the season.

Per last blog - years back warmup was 20 mins, then shortened to 16 mins at some point.

Yep, I don’t think any other sport has as good a playoff as hockey. Four seven game series pretty much prevents a Cinderella team from lucking their way to a Stanley Cup. That said I wish the there was a conference cross over in the first round so hopefully the best two teams square off for the cup.

I can’t wait to hear every team’s conspiracy on why they didn’t get the lottery pick.

I personally love it how it is today. I love when teams, or players, or fans beeotch about how it's "unfair" about how stacked their division is vs another. it all evens out over time. I'll be pulling for the Rangers because of Kane and Panarin. of course the bolts in round 1...... and against the Bruins. I think marchand might be my most despised player in hockey, and the mass-hole fan base is unbearable.

The lottery is going to be gold. There will be thesis's written on here about why the NHL favors THAT team or THIS team and while hating THIS team. can not wait.

I think these playoffs are shaping up to be a good one especially after the arms race we saw in the eastern conference at the deadline. Colorado getting hot at the right time you have to think they are going to make a deep run now that they are getting healthy. MacKinnon has 90 points in 59 games absolutely insane how he's just quietly putting up an amazing season.

You can say that again. In all seriousness that was really a stupid decision by the NHL, considering #4 is the GOAT.

I've given up expecting the Hawks will finish with the worst record, I think Columbus has that sewn up. That team is playing much worse than they should be, at least on paper. Chicago, San Jose and Anaheim will duke it out for the 2nd worst record.

I agree on the playoffs...the game keeps getting faster and in the playoffs more intense and chippier and more after possession bruising checks.
The players are simply so skilled and fast all over.

No melt down for me.

We are getting a good player with the first, and others in the top 100.

There was a reason the lottery was changed and now you cannot see an Edmonton - like getting so many top picks just because your GM/ and staff blow chunks.

I like the idea of the Wheel because it reduces the lotto chance part to knowing before the next 30 plus years just where you draft.
You know what each draft pick trade does for your club, what you have to do to get closer to the top player group in each draft and let's a Kyle Dumas type know today where their 2025 first round pick he traded to Chicago falls already prior to the trade for McCabe and Lafferty.

Still holding out hope. Hopefully the Caps come out for blood after losing to the Jackets a few nights ago. They really have no margin for error to try to make things interesting from a playoff push standpoint.
